The Chief

Pictorial from Flagstaff, AZ to La Junta, CO

[May 11, 2019] – The best day yet. And you want pictures? I got pictures… After a packed trip from LA, we started to offload plenty of people at Flagstaff and Albuquerque with few adding on. I made zero attempt to access the outside world to write anything about this leg because the scenery was constantly changing and I had access to both sides of the train as well as out the back of my car. So given that excuse, I’ll let the pictures tell the story of the Southwest Chief’s full day romp along the old Santa Fe route:

[May 12, 2019 – 945am CT] – Kansas City, MO… I am sending this with a good connection and care. Quiet night on the train and very few new people. Getting used to sleeping on it. We just added another car for the 54 peeps waiting here and was told the train will be full after the next 2 stops. No worries. Only 5 more hours to go, due to arrive in CHI at 230pm and head over to my AirBnB in Little Italy and my very nice hostess Marissa. I need a night to decompress before the next jaunt: The Empire Builder tomorrow across the top of the nation!
